But I thought I would give y’all a roundup! Toddlers! We have a lot of Toddlers this year, and the mess, paint eating and general craziness seems to have relaxed into some fun activities and play time… Caine’s Arcade This is our second year supporting the wonderful cause cainesarcade and the […]
Istanbul is thriving with art at the moment… Be it the “Rainbow Stair Painting” movement (see above), Anish Kapoor at the Sabanci Museum, the Istanbul Art international Fair, or the 13th Biennale being held in various locations around the city. My daughter and I have LOVED visiting museums and art exhibitions since she was a baby in a pushchair, but now at a very active 4, it is always good to go in with your eyes open, and here are […]
The most creative and inspirational country…the children just loved looking at all the different Indian art forms…from Holi paint splattering, Madhubani painters, the Taj Mahal, Rangoli, henna hands, Batik, Diwali and a plethora of animals and nature to be inspired by, from elephants and tigers to peacocks and lotus flowers. We used a wealth of new materials, from metal tooling for our elephants, fabric paint and candle wax for the Batik, sand and rice for the Rangoli, clay for our […]

One of my favorite things to do with the children @ Lola is to look at Art History and inspiring artists, from Matisse to Monet, from Paul Klee to Picasso. See below for some of our favorites from this year… And being so interested in this aspect of teaching Art to children, we now have opened an ART REFERENCE LIBRARY section @ Lola, so that children can now peruse books about artists and styles @ Lola too!

I must say I was worried about this workshop…we have never made Pinatas at Lola…and it seemed like a lot of work…but this was definitely the BEST workshop ever!! For a start we pre made the Papier Mache balloons for the children…this made SUCH a difference in the ease of the project…Once they had their Papier Mache ball, they decided what animal they wanted to make, and added on recycled materials (toilet rolls, cardboard, foil) to finish off their creatures. […]
This year at Lola we are just multiplying Toddlers…!! We started off in September with about 8…and now we have close to 50 toddlers getting messy with us each week! It is a perfect age for discovering the tactile aspects of art, and developing fine motor skills, ideas of color, shape and medium. It is also very very messy! This week we looked at different ways of printing. PRINTING WITH BUBBLE WRAP, a sea full of fishes: We used small […]
